In the northern part of the Kopački rit Nature Park is the Tikveš castle complex, which has historically been a hunting center known on a European and world scale.

It is a forest and park area where residential buildings are located: the New Historic Castle with the Annex, the Country Villa / Old Castle, the Papal Blessing Chapel and several ancillary buildings. The complex dates to the 19th century and was built by members of the Teschen lineage of the Habsburg family.

By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia from 2000, the complex was given for use and management to the Public Institution Nature Park Kopački rit.

Through the project "Presentation and Education Center Tikveš", the complex has been renovated, repurposed, and equipped and consists of a modern center with a uniquely designed exhibition with the aim of educating about the natural values of Kopački rit and the importance of its preservation.
